With Seattle restaurants allowed to open for dine-in services at 50 percent capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic, there are many places in the city upping their takeout and delivery game, or making their debuts in a challenging environment. Here’s a running list of some notable places that have either recently reopened for to-go orders or are completely brand new. Dine-in services are noted when available. Other openings and reopenings have been covered in recent Eater takeout guides.

BELLTOWN — A new Japanese restaurant called Shinya Shokudo opened recently on 3rd Ave, with a menu focused on yakitori and kushiyaki. The wide variety of skewers include quail egg wrapped in bacon and tare sauce, wagyu beef tongue, and chicken breast marinated in saikyo miso, and appear alongside a selection of donburi and noodle dishes. Available for limited dine-in service, with takeout coming soon.
KIRKLAND — A second location of chic Capitol Hill Thai restaurant Soi has landed in the new Urban Kirkland retail complex. It’s open for takeout and limited dine-in service, with a menu of popular items such as phad ped pla (stir-fried catfish cooked in red curry paste), naam khao tod (crispy rice salad), and kor moo yahng (barbecue pork collar), as well as beer, wine, and cocktails to-go. Delivery is available through DoorDash and Caviar.
FIRST HILL — The ever-expanding brewing company Locust Cider has added its fifth Seattle location and 12th overall, spanning three states. On tap is the company’s usual selection of ciders, such as Dark Cherry, Honey Pear, Vanilla Bean, and Strawberry Hibiscus, with snacks that include mini corn dogs and flatbread pizzas. Growlers and six-packs available for takeout, with limited dine-in service and delivery coming soon.
U DISTRICT — Known for its stunning views of the city and stiff drinks, the Mountaineering Club recently reopened for dine-in service at the Graduate Hotel with a menu that leans into the camping vibe (roast-your-own S’mores and a tinfoil cauliflower casserole). To-go cocktails and takeout meal kits are coming soon.

SODO — A takeout-only kitchen called The Fry Guys opens for curbside pickup today, with delivery coming soon. On the short menu are crinkle-cut and standard fries that could be meals unto themselves, as they come loaded with a variety of toppings, including Buffalo chicken, Cajun shrimp, garlic with cheese sauce, bacon, and jalapeno, and a “pizza” version (mozzarella, marinara sauce, pepperoni, and basil).
CAPITOL HILL — In July, Broadway Alley brunch spot Americana had announced it was permanently closing. But just weeks later, one of its longtime chefs, Jose Mendoza, purchased the place with his daughter, Cynthia, and reopened it in the same spot, with the same name and menu of comfort food items, such as fried Cornish game hen and wild boar enchiladas. Open for takeout, limited dine-in, and delivery via Caviar.
COLUMBIA CITY — The fast-casual Mexican restaurant Taco City Taqueria recently opened on Rainier Ave S, serving a wide selection of tacos (including al pastor, conchitas pibil, and lengua), burritos, nachos, and quesadillas, along with margaritas and palomas. There’s a neighborhood patio that opened up a few blocks away for those who want to grab-and-go, while still dining al fresco.
CAPITOL HILL — Health-focused cafe mini chain Bounty Kitchen recently opened its third location (following restaurants in Queen Anne and South Lake Union). It’s serving its usual grain bowls, scrambles, breakfast sandwiches, and vegetable hashes in the space formerly occupied by Tallulah’s. Delivery available via Caviar and Uber Eats.

SOUTH PARK — New all-day cafe Osprey Bistro opened quietly earlier this summer and is starting to hit its stride with some new specials, including chilled Tuscan melon soup, sliced head cheese sandwiches, and Penn Cove clams with Txistorra sausage, alongside portable comfort food items such as pork belly banh mi and a meatloaf sandwich with garlic kale and sweet onions. Open for takeout and limited dine-in.
FIRST HILL — Another newcomer to watch is the Asian-European fusion restaurant Di Fiora, which serves up elegantly-crafted takes on classic dishes, such as a basil sticky rice burger with fried French green beans, pad cha with squid ink, and pasta carbonara with tiger prawns, bacon, egg yolk, and masago caviar. Curbside pickup available with online preorders.
PHINNEY RIDGE — The longtime savory and sweet pie hit, aptly named Pie Bar, has opened another location outside the Ballard original (and the Kirkland-based food truck) at 7402 Greenwood Ave N. On the menu are seasonal selections, such as the peach-marionberry crumble pie, and newer options, such as a cheesesteak pie. Available for takeout and delivery via Uber Eats.
CAPITOL HILL — After months staying dormant during the pandemic, longtime sandwich favorite Honeyhole is now open again for takeout with online preordering Wednesday through Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The menu remains the same as before, including the popular Corleone (pastrami on rye), as well as a wide selection of vegetarian options, such as the Emilio Pestevez (smoked tomato field roast, pesto, and goat cheese).

GEORGETOWN — A new Italian option, Mezzanote, has surfaced in Georgetown, taking over former rotisserie chicken purveyor Bar Ciudad (but under the same ownership). That owner, Marcus Lalario, has drawn in chef Jake Vorono (previously at Il Corvo and Bar del Corso), for a menu centered around antipasti and uncomplicated pasta dishes (cacio e pepe, ragu, carbonara). There are creative cocktail options, with a couple of frozen options to boot — enjoy them in the restaurant’s sizable courtyard.
CAPITOL HILL — Newly opened in the former Semillon bakery space on 11th Avenue is Mai’s Kitchen, offering a fast-casual and affordable approach to Vietnamese cuisine. The menu staples are pho, rice bowls, vermicelli, and banh mi, with different proteins (including a vegetarian option) available with each. Owner Trang Nguyen is also taking advantage of the space’s previous tenant to offer a few baked goods like macarons and madeleines.
BURIEN — IPA-focused microbrewery Logan Brewing Company has thrown open the doors on its first taproom, right by Burien’s Town Square Park. Expect 10 beers on tap with an emphasis on hoppy options — the taproom is only open for outdoor seating, but still has room for 40, and outside food is welcome. It’s open Tuesday to Sunday from mid-afternoon into the evening.
RANIER VALLEY — Umami Kuchi — known for supplying ozaku pan (savory fried dough-balls filled with curry, barbecue pork, and other options) and beignets to a number of establishments around Seattle — has a new walk-up window. Find it at 9099 Seward Park Avenue S, and online orders for pick-up are accepted too.
PIONEER SQUARE — Fanciful Bellevue coffee shop Third Culture Coffee has expanded into Seattle proper. Open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., it’s at 323 1st Avenue S.

EVERETT — Much-lauded Mexican food mini chain Birrieria Tijuana has opened its third location, and the first one north of Seattle. The new Everett outpost at 205 E. Casino Drive features the same takeout menu as the restaurants in Burien and Lakewood, highlighting its popular birria tacos: slow-cooked, shredded beef topped with gooey mozzarella inside fried tortillas, best washed down with a refreshing horchata.
DOWNTOWN — For the first time since COVID-19 measures forced all of his restaurants to shut down, chef Tom Douglas reopened one of them, Serious Pie, for to-go service recently. The pizzeria is known for its charred-edge pies with seasonal toppings. In April, Douglas opened an offshoot, Serious Takeout, in Ballard.
U DISTRICT — Vegan ice cream favorite Frankie and Jo’s has opened its third outpost in Seattle, following the ones in Ballard and Capitol Hill. The new U Village location features shop’s regular flavors, such as chocolate date, salty caramel ash, and beet strawberry rose sorbet, along with seasonal scoops, including kale lime leaf. Right now, all locations are available for to-go orders, and there’s nationwide delivery for pints.
SOUTH LAKE UNION — Latin American-influenced cocktail spot Gold Bar recently reopened for takeout, delivery, and limited dine-in service. On the menu are bites such as gluten-free chicken nuggets, empanadas, and yuca fries, while bottled booze options to-go include margaritas, mint gin fizzes, and pisco punches.

INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT — Momosan Seattle (the Pacific Northwest outpost for Masaharu ”Iron Chef” Morimoto’s ramen empire) has reopened with a shortened menu of appetizers (such as the indulgent soft-shell crab bao), ramen, sushi, and rice bowls, plus beer, wine, mixed drinks, and sake to-go. Online ordering is available through GrubHub for takeout and delivery or Zuppler for takeout and contactless payment options.
PIKE PLACE — The iconic seafood destination Matt’s in the Market (which had been doing a limited to-go menu at sibling White Swan Public House for awhile) has reopened its own doors for limited dine-in service, as well as takeout starting Tuesday. The to-go menu will include dishes such as cornmeal crusted catfish sandwiches and grilled Spanish octopus. Sibling bar Radiator Whiskey — specializing in smoked meats — is also open for takeout.
CAPITOL HILL — Vinyl record-themed bar Life on Mars has put away the turntables for now, but has recently made its vegan food menu and cocktails available to-go. Items include cauliflower wings, disco fries, and a barbecue waffle sandwich with pulled jackfruit. On the drinks side, there’s wine, beer (including the KEXP Tranisitor IPA), Manhattans, and chai tea whiskey sours.

CENTRAL DISTRICT — Fourth of July weekend marked a triumphant return for The Barbeque Pit, which has been a Seattle mainstay for years. The no-frills meat-focused restaurant — known for its smoked ribs and hot links — is now at 17th Ave and East Yesler Way, after it closed down its previous location at 23rd Ave and East Cherry Street last year. Owner Edward “Pookey” Whitfield is even getting some help from Seattle University business students in relaunching the operation.
GEORGETOWN — After shutting down temporarily in March due to COVID-19, the acclaimed cake specialist Deep Sea Sugar and Salt is open again for to-go orders by the slice. There’s no longer a daily menu posted online, but customers can find cake flavors listed by the month — July includes the shop’s popular 9lb Porter Chocolate, London Fog, and S’mores. The new hours are Thursday through Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m. For those ordering a whole cake, a full week’s notice is required.
BELLTOWN — Comfort food purveyor Biscuit Bitch opened its two Belltown locations — the Caffe Lieto outpost near Pike Place Market and the one on Third Avenue and Bell Street— for to-go orders and limited sidewalk seating. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily, with the usual menu of biscuits smothered in gravy, with options that include sausages, spam, and other toppings. Biscuit Bitch’s other two locations (in White Center and Pioneer Square) won’t be reopening.
BALLARD — Popular gastropub Brimmer and Heeltap debuted a new cafe in its back garden space this past week called Red Arrow Coffee. On the menu is Caffè Umbria roasts, chain, cold brew, and a selection of snacks, such as housemade scones, salads, and pimento cheese sandwiches. Limited outdoor eating is available, in addition to takeout orders. (Brimmer and Heeltap itself is still serving to-go meal kits for pickup each Friday.)

CAPITOL HILL — The acclaimed, cozy Eastern European restaurant Dacha Diner has reopened with a limited menu. Contactless pickup is available with online pre-orders via the website (no walkins), with a selection of Dacha’s well-known khachapuri, frozen pelmeni, and some wine and cider to-go. Hours are Thursday through Saturday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT — The wildly popular Taiwanese chain 85°C Bakery Cafe — specializing in treats such as iced sea salt coffee, brioche buns, and sweet rolls — recently reopened its Jackson Street location. The outposts in Edmonds, Lynnwood, Tukwila resumed takeout as well.
CAPITOL HILL — After staying closed for months, the Southeast Asian-influenced restaurant Stateside returned in June with a limited menu of food and drinks in partnership with sibling cocktail bar Foreign National. Among the items that it started with were cheeseburger baos, but that run is over. There will be a broader takeout menu starting July 8, alongside bottled cocktails, wine, and beer.
PIKE PLACE — The Pink Door, one of Seattle’s enduring Italian restaurants located at Post Alley, now offers a three-course meal for takeout at $30 per person, with rotating items using ingredients from local farms. Some recent dishes have included spinach lasagna, beef short ribs braised in chianti, and risotto with northwest morel mushrooms.

GREENWOOD — After staying closed since mid-March, FlintCreek Cattle Co. — known for its menu of responsibly raised meats — reopened for to-go orders via Tock, offering items such as fennel-braised wild boar shoulder and Moses Lake pork chop. Its seafood-focused sibling RockCreek in Fremont is open for takeout as well.
NEW HOLLY/OTHELLO — Taco Street near Othello Station serves soft tacos Northern Chihuahua-style, naked with a choice of meat, plus burritos, tortas, and breakfast burritos. There’s also a large selection of sauces, salsas, and toppings like cilantro and pickled red onions for customization, available now for takeout.
LOWER QUEEN ANNE — Tyger Tyger is a brand new Sichuan restaurant near the Space Needle, and a sibling to popular Capitol Hill spot Lionhead. On the initial takeout menu are items such as mapo doufu, cumin beef, and dan dan mian. There’s also a selection of cocktails, natural wines, and baiju (Chinese whiskey) for pickup.
GEORGETOWN — Grilled meats are the specialty at Ciudad, which now has a limited menu of tahini chicken, chorizo, and steak for takeout and delivery available on apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats. There are also some flatbread sandwiches and cocktails to-go that can be ordered by calling ahead at 206-717-2984.
VARIOUS LOCATIONS — Since March, The Matador — a Mexican food mini chain with locations in Ballard, Redmond, Tacoma, and West Seattle — has focused some of its efforts on feeding health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s now open for takeout and delivery at all its outposts, with its extensive tequila concoctions available for curbside pickup.

CAPITOL HILL — Chef Nathan Lockwood’s acclaimed Capitol Hill Italian restaurant Carello is now offering takeout daily from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Items include both cooked and uncooked pastas, entrees such as rabbit meatballs, eggplant parmesan, and braised lamb shoulder, and olive oil cake for dessert. There’s also a selection of pantry items (loaves of bread, ground beef, olives), cocktails, and wine.
PIKE PLACE — Iconic fizzy drink specialist Rachel’s Ginger Beer recently reopened its Pike Place Market flagship location for takeout orders Wednesday through Sunday from 12 p.m to 6 p.m. Patrons can fill up growlers with the famed ginger beer (in flavors such as pink guava, blueberry, and caramelized pineapple), order soft serve ice cream, and get Moscow mules to-go. There’s also local delivery via Postmates.
FREMONT — One of Seattle’s most well-known beer destinations, Brouwer’s Cafe, has a wide selection of hefes, stouts, IPAs, and lagers from local breweries, Belgian bottled beer, and hard liquor. Per Washington’s new booze rules, customers must order food with any takeout alcohol — the menu includes bar bites such as pretzels, lamb burgers, and stoofvlees (a traditional Belgian beef stew).
VARIOUS LOCATIONS — After shutting down temporarily in March out of health concerns, Li’l Woody’s — the well-known burger mini chain with locations in Capitol Hill, Ballard, and White Center — has ramped up operations again, serving up items such as its namesake patty, with pickled figs, Painted Hills bacon, and crumbled blue cheese. Online preordering is available, in addition to delivery via several third-party apps.
VARIOUS LOCATIONS — After shutting its Seattle shops during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic (but keeping its roastery going), Caffe Vita has now reopened five locations for takeout coffee and tea (Ballard, Capitol Hill, Seward Park, and two in Queen Anne). There are also 64-ounce latte growlers with oat milk available for pickup at the Capitol Hill cafe.
